Margot van Neerven (1964) is an artist and art teacher based in Nijmegen. She has always had an interest for composition and characteristics of industrial constructions. In 2005 she decided to develop this interest and her career as an artist by starting studying at the Nieuwe Akademie Utrecht (NAU), where she graduated in 2010. In her monumental works Margot explores formal visual aspects, where negative space plays an important part in her compositions. The lines form the second independent composition in her paintings. The diversity of fine lines, a peculiar use of color and refined accents form together an unexpected layering in her work. In this way Margot’s paintings are a playground where flat as well as spatial components meet and a new three dimensional landscape is formed.
